Filming a cycle

I was wondering about fixing a mini-cam to my handlebar or brakes for a cycle tour.

Has anyone done this before? What exactly would I need to bring?

I no nothing about film-making at all

Try an Archos PVR with a 'helmet' cam.

But, be warned, showing anyone more than 90 seconds of one's very own cherished amateur video footage is not recommended, unless it's to your doting parents. And even then they might secretly disinherit you by way of revenge.

Ha, too true. One thing you can try to make it more bearable is to speed the whole thing up so you get your whole cycle compressed into said 90 seconds (60 would be better )

Thanks for that. I guess that plugs into a video camera packed away in a bag?

Yep, you could stick the PVR unit in your jersey pocket, there's a microphone integrated in the remote control which is in the connecting cable.

Hi,i used this http://helmetcameracentral.com/2006/11/06/oregon-scientific-atc2k-atc-2000-helmet-camera/ ,bought it from the Apple Store to film some of the Etape this year,worked out well,tried it on my helmet(bit sore) and on the handlebars,helmet cam worked out better much less shake,i put a 2gig card in it and filmed an hour of film and bored my friends to tears with it,very easy to operate and very compact,also try this link,they specialize in this sort of thing,http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/sony-hq1-550-helmet-camera.htm,a lot more expensive but you get what you pay for.
