    Hi

    I recently purchased an epilator...

I have used it a few times and found the results to be excellent.. but the pain.. oh the pain is terrible...

Does anyone have any advice on how to use the epilator without having to literally scream in pain?

Take an ibuprofen a half hour before you start, it gets a lot less painfull the more you do it. Also exfoliate daily to stop ingrown hairs.

I find using the epliator after a bath or shower also helps. If you hold the skin tight is also good.

It does get easier the more often you do it and then it will get to the stage that you dont have to do that often.

Hope this is helpful for you.

Thanks Nicknax.. i'll try and shower before i try again.

Katherine- i took too panadol actifast about half an hour before i tried this eve. It was still terribly painful.

I think i might get my legs waxed and then start back with the epilator once the hairs start growing back. That way there will be less hair and they will be lighter and hopefully not as painful!

    Thanks for the tips!

the epilator i have came with a freezer glove kinda thing. its basically a glove that has a pouch in which you insert an ice pack. you use this to numb the area before epilating. works a treat i find!

I'd imagine a few ice cubes in a face cloth would have the same effect as the above OP if you don't want to fork out again!

Hi Missle.. when i first bought the epilator i was just after getting my legs waxed and i found it to be painful.. but the results were excellent..

I could never wear a skirt as after shaving i'd still have loads of black dots on my legs.. and fake tan would only make the situation worse..

The epilator was excellent, only a friend of mine borrowed it for about 6 weeks.. i know i should have just asked for it back.. in the meantime i went back to shaving so my OH wouldn't have to see/feel my unslightly leg hair..

Got the epilator back this weekend...hair on legs as bad as ever.. like a hedgehog.. can't bear the pain of the epilator now so i' gonna have to grow the hair, get legs waxed and start from scratch..

If you can bear the pain then go for it.. the results are really fantastic!! ( i could wear skirts for the first time in a long time!)

Everyone else.. thanks i'll try the ice and facecloth idea!!.. any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!:)

Yes, they are very good, they hurt like HELL though, and i find the fact that it sounds like a lawnmower a little offputting.

I actually dont know where mine is....must resurrect it!!!

I find that the longer the hair is, the more painful it is.
