It depend on how long your hair is OP. They generally say that you need to re-apply the product every 6 weeks or so. Your hair grows back and the grey hairs need to dyed again. Have you considered Just For Men? You could do it yourself and it could save you a hefty sum. If getting it done professionally is what you want to do then by all means contact your barber/hair salon and arrange a consultation. I had little flecks that appeared recently and are now gone. I had a mate that went grey when he was 15 years old.Good luck.

I think you're best off using one of the home kits. They're just as good sometimes! Do you have someone who can help you put it on for you? It can be a tad tricky otherwise!

You don't need to get the men's grecian 2000 hair dyes, the wimmins ones work fine, so any of the box sets in the hair dye aisle of your local supermarket will be fine - loreal, etc.

If your hair is black, I'd suggest you go for a very very dark brown colour first, to test the waters, so to speak, as some of the "black" colours tend to be very very black, almost blue-ish, and look noticeably "dyed" IYKWIM, and you could end up looking very washed out skin-tone wise.

The only other consideration is whether you want to go for a permanent colour or a semi-permanent. semis last anywhere between 6 washes and 24 washes (It will state it on the pack how permanent the colour is) and a permanent is just that - it won't wash out, it will grow out. You'd probably want to dye your hair about every 6-8 weeks, depending on how fast it grows to stop grey roots showing.

    thanks for all the help.

so i apply the dye and when the hair grows longer the grey will become more noticeable and will need to reapply the dye?

and is there any particular dye that i shud try or are they all decent?

    thanks

Clairol Nice and Easy covers greys/roots very well, maybe get someone to help you put it in first time round if you're not awkward about it.

The Boots botanics stuff is good too and comes with decent gloves - some hair dyes really suck for the plastic crap they expect you to use to apply the dye.

o Do your whole head with the colour, not just the grey bits.
o Do have someone else on hand to tell you if you've missed any patches of grey.
o You can use something like vaseline for around your ears and at your hairline so if you do get any dye on your skin it'll rub off easily.
o Throw out any unused dye when you're finished - it never works properly if you keep it out longer than an hour or two.
o Make sure you use the conditioner they give you with the dye, and beware of white pillows the night after putting it in :)

I'm in the same boat as him only i'm only 18. I have a few random greys and i feel really self-conscious about it. I'm sort of embarrassed about going into a shop and buying just for men its doesn't sounds like something the average 18 year old has to do:(. Any suggestions?

The 1st thing you need to do is dismiss all the advice you have recieved so far because if you are uncomfortable with grey hair the last thing you will want is to look like the head is dyed off you. Its ok for women but not for men. 75% of women have coloured as opposed to 1% of men.So the solution for you is simple.I advise you to go to Moda Vida Hair salon in Drogheda because they use a product called color camo. This product will only colour the grey to match your own hair colour hair so therefore the end result is a very natural look and no one can tell the difference. It cost me €35.00 and I get it done every 7-9 weeks. I have tried all the products and i end up looking ridiculous. ask for sinead, I think she is the owner tel:0419847681
