If I rename server, do I lose shared folders?

    Hi,

    Quick question..

I'm copying over files from a file server to a new W2003 server and I want to keep the old server online while I manually configure the shared file structure and permissions etc. Once I have that done, I''m gonna rename the new server as the same name as the old one.. Do all the shares stay intact? Like it will just change to \\NewServerName\Shares? Or will I have to reshare everything?

I should probably know this :* but can't be bothered renaming + rebooting to test.

There are lots and lots of shares to do.

    Ta!

Realised I ws just being incredibly lazy there.... tested it out, and shares stayed OK.
