Washing Maching Stuck on 'Spin' Mode

    Hi there,

I have been having trouble with my washing machine over the past week..

1)It stopped completely in the middle of a load, I took the clothes out and put it on to drain out the remaining water..all was grand

    2) Now when i put a load on to wash the first and only thing it will do is spin the clothes,

    3) I have tried putting it on to rinse, i have tried all the various wash types but the 'spin' light is constantly on and it will NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE!

    4) I've plugged it out and given it a 'rest' for 24 hours but still no success.

5)I have checked the hose at the back of the machine and there is no problem with the water supply..

    Any suggestions?

Hi .i sympathise with you ,had same type of problem a few monthe ago.Engineer came and said the drain pipe/pump had a blockage and something about a sensor not switching off due to the water level not going down due to the blockage .He cleaned out the pipe and the pump and away it went .Still going grand. If your any way handy it might be worth a look.

Have you checked your "fluff filter"?

As the last poster says, it's likely to be a problem with the water not being able to be pumped out, either a blockage or a fault with the pump.

Blocked drain filter is the cause of many a weird thing happening with washing machines.

check your drain hose and that it hasn't slipped down into the standpipe or is laying low on the floor.

what usually causes this is syphoning. essentially your machine keeps on filling with water because water is being syphoned out of the drain and it's not filling to the required water amount in the drum.

    hope that helps.

Sorry if i sound stupid here but where do i find the drain filter on the machine... i'm no domestic goddess and don't have a clue!!!

It's normally behind a flap on the bottom right. Looks a bit like the petrol filler on your car on most machines.
If you open it, have an old towel on the floor as a small bit of water normally comes out.

Thanks, I just prised the bottom flap open, opened the filter, water came out, nothing in there, gave it a clean anyways and the stupid machine still wont co-operate!...

Any other suggestions or should i just pay someone to come fix it.. i would hate to have to fork over money for something i could have sorted myself!!!

Could be the cam timer is stuck or broken - how old is it?

Is it the type where you twist the dial to 'D' or '4' or whatever to start the wash and the dial moves itself aruond as it washes?

It's not the drain filter being blocked. If it was the machine would stop running after the pump couldn't empty the water with your machine.

As I said drain hose at back of machine is your more likely culprit.

The dial doesn't move around as it washes. I think we got the machine about two years ago..

I looked at the drain hose, i stuck a wire hanger up it but it was not long enought to go down throught the whole hose.. i could not feel any blockages as i went..but obviously i could not get all the way through the hose due to lack of length of hanger!

When you switch it on, does it fill with water at all or just go straight to a spin?

It sounds more like a faulty controller if it just spins and nothing else.

Did you try letting it spin to see if it finishes the cycle? Maybe it thinks it is still in the middle of a wash.

..it just goes straight into spin.. i've let the programme run its course but when i try and start a new cycle it just goes back into spin...

Looks a bit more serious then, maybe you do need to get a pro in.
