I attended the launch of the switchover dates today... see the press release below. They are saying that 94% of homes in west Wales (the first bit of Wales to go digital only) have already switched to digital tv...

The process starts August 12th in Swansea, with the closure of BBC2 affecting Preseli viewers from 19th August. The shutdown will be complete at Presely on September 16th 2009..

The PSB-3 miltiplex at Preseli will not be converted to HDTV (DVB-T2/MPEG-4) before DSO in Granada "between October and December 2009."

But then it will broadcast BBC-HD and two other HD channels using DVB-T2/MPEG-4.

PSB 1-3 will transmit with 20 kW ( up from 1,1,2 kW).
COM 1-3 will transmit with 10 kW (up from 2,1,1 kW) but not before 2010

    Lars :)

Hi with the increased transmitter power in Wales will DTT be receivable here in Tramore. Or will Mt Leinster interfer with the signal.

Not all the frequencies clash but most do.

I see Llandonna is switching from october next year-I presume that includes it's relay arfon.
It will be interesting what sort of reception I get here from arfon DTT considering the analogue is very very good usually.

    Arfon SH476493 PSB1 CH41 2kW, PSB-2 CH44 2kW, PSB-3 CH47 2kW, (no COM)

But Llanddona wil use 20 kW. The directional pattern of the transmiiters may be different.

Anyone know what power Mt. Leinster will be pumping out at?

Banners will start to appear on analogue channels from Preseli at regular intervals from February, advising people to switch to digital... should be worth keeping an eye out for!
