Has anyone ever holidayed in Cadiz / Conil / Barbate areas of south Spain? Thinking of going there for a week in September, wondering if there's much to do or see. Will be hoping to get a bit of surf in also.

    Hi Ciaran,
I've been to Cadiz a couple of times. It's a pretty nice city, but not very big. Plenty of bars, restaurants, a couple of nice beaches and a cathedral.
If you don't want to stay in Cadiz itself, I highly recommend the nearby town of El Puerto de Santa Maria. It's about 10 mins drive from Cadiz or 15 minutes by catamaran. It's a really beautiful place, popular with Spanish tourists and has some of the nicest beaches I've ever seen. Lots of places to eat and drink too, especially if you're into seafood.
For surfing, it has to be Tarifa, one of the windiest places in the area. Basically the whole town revolves around surfing! The beaches there are pretty cool cos you can see across to Africa.
    Hope this helps!
    Buen viaje. ;)

Hi Gaoithin thanks for that. From what I can see most of the surf happens further down the coast, places like El Palmar and Barbate. Also Tarifa but this seems more geared for windsurfing. So we want to be near the surf but also want somewhere that has a good night life and good restaurant, etc. El Puerto de Santa Maria sounds interesting will look into it.

    Cheers,

    Ciaran.
