Handicap Query

I've got a quick question about my handicap

My current handicap is 12(11.6 to be exact). However i haven't played golf in three years and i now want to go back playing. Obviously i am unable to play at the same standard i could three years ago so my question is:

Is there anyway that i could be reviewed in order to recieve a more realistic handicap. Throughout the 3 years that i haven't played i have remained a member of the club.

Any help would be much appriciated!!

If you haven't put cards in over those years then you may well need to put three cards in to validate your handicap again. Even then though, i doubt they'll give you anything back on. Certainly unlikely to be more than 1 stroke.

I thought most clubs (if not all) would re-set / blank any member who hadn't played in sufficient competitions during the year (their Golf sorftware thingy would do it), regardless of membership been paid up.

On re-submitting 3 new cards, generally the handicap secretary is sharp enough to review your previous history

Sorry to be critical...but instead of immediately trying to get shots back..could you not adopt the approach that if I practice a little over the next couple of weeks then maybe I could play to reasonably close to my former handicap.

    Thats presuming your circumstances allow...

Somebody at your level should be able to get proficient pretty quickly again.

    Hmmm ?

I agree with Fulton above, use it as a target. Even if you get a review by your club h'cap sec, chances are you will be re-instated at your original mark.
Anyone who got to 11 must have some natural skill, which would come back pretty quickly.

Ye what Fulton says actually reminds me of a story in olf Monthly last year of a lad of 15 or 16 who targeted to get to scratch in a year, practising evenining and weekends around his job and he was playing off scratch within a year.

Guys, does anyone know what way Hcap is reduced down when reducing between classes. Example exact is 20.6, shot a 38 today and expect to be cut for two shots. So the question is will I be cut 0.4 and then 0.3, dropping between classes or both at 0.4?

There is no way your handicap can be increased. The CONGU rules do not allow for this.

Realistically your club should have suspended (and then lapsed) your handicap and you should submit three cards and your previous handicap.

However if your handicap has been kept current then you have absolutely no case for an increase.

You will be cut 0.4 until you reach the next zone, and then you will be cut 0.3. so for the two strokes you are being cut it will be 0.7 altogether iirc. Hope you understand what i mean.
