Why choose? Just watch heat again and again.

Heat is great, but it's no Goodfellas. And Goodfellas has Pacino, so unfortunately, there's a choice that has to be made.

Why is SDoom's modding not up for discussion, exactly? Why should he be beyond reason, completely infallible?

Nobody's saying that Doom is infallible. Mods make mistakes, we're only human after all, it just so happens that this isn't one of those occasions.
none of the mods here seem to understand logic, or how other forums work, and I'm meant to think they're competent?

I wasn't aware that I had to take a course in logic before I became a mod. Had you been here sooner you could have saved me from all the horrendous and ill thought out decisions I've made on the fora I mod. It might help up my feedback thread count, which is woefully low at he moment it must be said.

Right, here's what it all boils down to. You posted something that a moderator of the forum deemed inappropriate for that particular thread, even if you didn't. However, you then failed to recognise the simple fact that it's his opinion, not your's, that actually counts when deeming something inappropriate. You could have pm'd him to discuss this with him, but you chose to argue on-thread. You were told to desist from this but you continued to argue. You were advised that such persistance would lead to a ban, and yet you chose to argue once more, and logic dictates that a ban was inevitable.

Now, here's the kicker - Boards is not other forums. Regardless of what was permissable anywhere else you may have posted, arguing against moderator decisions on-thread is strictly forbidden and will earn you a ban from any forum where you engage in such behaviour, not just ones moderated by Doom. If you have a problem with this site-wide rule then I suggest you go back to the other sites and discuss with their staff how oppressive Boards is.

Chiaki Kuriyama, easily. It's odd, but I find the fact that she has a rather big nose is quite attractive. I don't know why. Nom nom nom.
a man likes what he likes. mononoke or spirited? i say mononoke for the wow factor, spirited for the nice childlike feeling you have at the ending

Seriously? It's all about the acting for me, and in my opinion, DeNiro had the better body of work, from Taxi Driver to Raging Bull, Ronin, Once Upon A Time In America, The Deer Hunter, Casino, Goodfellas. Pacino's been in some terrific films himself, no doubt about it, but I feel DeNiro has done more noteworthy pieces.
Yes, all great films there (though I didn't like Ronin, mind you I was very young when I first saw it...may watch that later). I think though my opinion of him has been tainted by the likes of Analyze This/That, Meet the Parents/Fockers. Oh and The Score, I was severely disappointed with that, even being a big fan of both DeNiro and Norton. Not with the performances though, it just didn't sit right with me...

Very hard to choose there. Princess Mononoke is more of an epic with environmentalist undertones, whereas Spirited Away is a character based tale.

Damn, that's a head scratcher there.

    Also, Oasis or Blur?

    I wouldn't choose tbh :)

i only saw spirited a few months ago, thanks to a housemate, loved it, then he kept saying mononoke. month or two ago it was on film four, loved it and have watched it many times since. i cant really watch spirited anymore without thinking mononoke was better though.

    So, Pacino or DeNiro?

What the ****, Pacino and DeNiro are not the same thing. At all. Neither real Pacino nor the trendy DeNiro that you get instead of Taxi Driver DeNiro these days. Apart from offering favouring darker hues("real" Pacino's tend to prefer blues though) they're stylistic opposites. "Pacino" is tacky hairclips, baggy pants, horrible clashing of colours. DeNiro is often a little punky, but quite stylish.

I read the first page and sat giggling to myself, then I realized that there were two more pages.

    It is like Christmas :)

That post on logic by the OP is one of the funniest arguments ever put forward in feedback.

Obviously he put alot into that. Obviously he's also an idiot.

The funny thing about people who talk alot about logic and try and apply it to the world, is that they ignore human nature, mostly because they probably haven't had enough sunlight for their brain to have developed to the stage where it can even recognize human nature.

To summarize OP, if we all worked on such logic as you defined we wouldn't be human. And whatsmore, we'd all be banned from the nocturnal forum.

In other news. Listen to mods in future, don't argue, just listen.

Yeah, DeNiro has done some horrid things late in his career, but so has Pacino, he was in Gigli for crying out loud, that's worth 10 Meet the Fockers.
    Also, Oasis or Blur?

Blur, definitely. Damon Albarn is a genius. He also did the soundtrack for Ravenous, which was especially interesting.

Unquestionably one of the best posts of all my time here. I wasnt even going to post in this thread as I have a bit of a rep for not being able to keep my nose out but that deserves some credit!

You ignored the moderator and you got banned. Then you try to bore confuse everyone into your way of thinking, good try though. Very simple case here.

Now, I think my point has been made. When a thread is on a certain subject, it's not very fair to take it off that subject, as it can be frustrating for those who've started it, and for those who have to mod it.

As far as the banning of cork student goes, it is greatly frowned upon to argue with a moderator on-thread, and after repeated warnings, the ban seems perfectly justified in order not to disrupt the thread further. If there is a dispute, you take it to private message, or feedback/helpdesk, there is a discourse to follow, and if you've racked up 200 posts on boards you should know this.

In all seriousness, a totally deserved ban, and all this argument about logic is purely ad hominem, it sets aside responsibility of the user to behave themselves, and attacks the moderator instead, therefor trying to shift blame. That doesn't wash with me, and I doubt it washes with anyone else here, such diversionary tactics are immiature at best.

You're the reason you got banned.

    Thats just illogical.

As long as you think its worth taking off subject, not only should you do so, but you should additionally argue vociferously against anyone offering reasoning why you shouldn't.
all this argument about logic is purely ad hominem,
    You mis-spelled "trolling" there.

No, that's just illogical. I made a demonstration, which had a point at the end, logic should tell you that my example in a controlled environment is not the same as someone else putting into practice something similar on another forum without a definite means or purpose.

Wow, I'm surprised someone actually got banned by SDooM - he's the nice mod!

Anyway this thread = Mega Fail.
I for one thank SDooM for removing such a dangerous logical thinker like corkstudent from our fascist, authoritarian illogical Nocturnal paradise.

Now, time for "un chat de lols"
