    Hi guys,

not sure if Im even posting this in the proper thread but here goes, i've got a sister in Oz and we're trying to set up skype, can anyone give a bit more info on how it works ive downloaded the package and it seems fine but i thought there was a web cam option, do we have to pay for this service? i have a built in web cam as does my sister.

    any help would be appreciated

PC to PC calls are free so just add your sisters username to your contacts and if you have a cheap microphone then you are all set. I think their PC to landline rates are good too as well. You can use your webcam but I'm unsure if there is a charge for the service, don't think so.

    Nellie,

When you say "it works fine", do you mean that you've been able to have a voice call through Skype? If you've got that far and you both have working webcams, the video option should work too. From Skype's "Help" file:

How can I start the video feature during a call?
You can start a video call by clicking on the video button of the contact in your contact list or by choosing "Start video" during a call. You can switch video on and off during the call, by clicking the option on the call tab.
In the video image, you can choose to switch the video image to an extra video window or to full screen.

You should both have a broadband connection to get the best from the video call. Skype don't charge extra for the video feature. But if you make a lot of video calls, keep an eye on your download allowance from your ISP. It could cause you to exceed your quota and that could incur a charge.
