Are you a completist?

Do you need to get a 100% finish on games you play? Spent hours playing every side quest on Zelda? Days and weeks getting 121 Stars with both Mario and Luigi on Mario Galaxy? Do you need to open every level, find every chest, defeat every enemy?

Would be interested to know who on here is really dedicated or who like myself, rarely returns to a game once I've gotten to the end of the story/final level.

I think Achievements on the XBox have made me a completist on that platform.

Not so much on the Wii though.... I think I got enough stars (or maybe 10 over) to finish SMGalaxy, and I know I'm missing out on a good chunk of the game by not going for them.

I got 2 levels from the end of Boom Blox and gave up (the last 2 levels are ridiculous).

I unlocked a good few things in Mario Kart, but unfair AI put me off playing any more of that.

I've finished a good few VC games (mainly because I finished them when I was younger)

So completist on Xbox - yes.
Completist on Wii - not so much.

I'm inclined to agree with Mr. E here. I'm much more of a completist on Xbox for achievements then I am on the Wii. I did get all stars with Mario in Galaxy but wasn't bothered going through it again as Luigi.

In GTA 4 on xbox I'm currently striving the 100% completion which will be the first GTA game I've done that on.

Playing Bully on Wii at the moment as well and am just looking to finish story and trade in.

If a game is enjoyable I'll go the extra mile in it. I got most things in No more Heroes for example and battled through for the Real Ending.

To sum up, if a game is good enough to hold my attention I'll go all completist on it but there's a breaking point in every game when enough is enough.

I was years and years ago when I had no money to buy other games and had to make do with one or two till the next Christmas/Birthday.

Now though I have so many great games to get through that I just don't have the time any more to do every single little thing. There are too many amazing game experiences still waiting out there for me to bother myself with collecting things just for the sake of 100% completion.

I used to be a completist as well when I didn't have the money for loads of games but now with the back log of games I have I wouldn't get to play as much of them if I was a cxompletist. If I'm missing out on gameplay I'd go the extra mile with a game. Mario Galaxy being a good example. I got all the stars in that but couldn't be arsed playing through it again. If it involves anything boring or game lenghtening excercises, forget it or if I don't enjoy the game all that much.I do have a very bad OCD habit of having to beat every game I start playing. It's so bad that I end up not playing brilliant games with no ending like Viva Pinata as much in favour of bad games with an ending.

that sums up my attitude exactly, I have a huge backlog of games to get through!

When will developers get it into their thick heads that games need good endings!!

I could bloody kill everyone at Capcom for their street fighter endings and that is a quick game. Never mind a game you spend hours at

I think the worst offender is the cliffhanger ending. Thanks a lot Halo 2 for absolutely nothing!

Developers really need to give the player an ending that was worth wasting 8-50 hours of your life on. There's very few games that make an effort. Games like Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Suikoden 2 and Panzer Dragoon Saga seem to be the exception to the rule.

This sums it up for me, if I love a game I'm happy to keep going for as long as possible and do every last thing in it. I adored Mario Galaxy so I played it through a second time as Luigi and I'm currently playing Shadow Hearts: Covenant and doing every minor little sidequest in it because I'm enjoying the game so much.

On the other hand I stopped trying to get 100% in GTAIV after getting frustrated and bored doing unique stunts and I have never raced any of the Retro cups in 150cc in Mario Kart Wii and never plan to because it's far too frustrating and just not fun at all.

I tend to set my own goals in games, I will consider Mario Kart Wii "complete" once I have unlocked all of the characters and the expert staff ghosts. In fact any games where you collect/unlock characters bring out the completist in me. Pokémon and Suikoden games are especially bad this, I become practically obsessed when playing them :D

With certain games I am, but with others I'm really lazy. I'm playing almost nothing at the moment though.

max replay second time, mostly merely once ,do the best i can,big title RPG like FF/zelda i tend to finish it as perfect as possible once off, action game i will replay sometimes for the addictive fun,racing/sport/fighting game basically exist only for have fun with mates.100% completed never appeal me,very few exception like Castlevania (100% map opened).life is just too busy now :(
