What's the best site to set up a travel blog for our travels? I've tried blogger and wordpress and the likes, but they're all very badly designed and limiting. I'm looking for something simple and minimalist, where i can post text and an occasional image.

    Any preferences?

Moving this to the Blogs/Wiki/Social Network forum, where it might get some informed responses :)

I think this thread would be better off in travel where people who might have used travel blogs before may have more insight? Also this forum seems dead.

Anyway I'm only researching them at the moment but I've narrowed it down to three I might use.

First is ballofdirt.com. It has a pretty straightforward interface and is easy to read especially the overall summary of entries. Example.

Second is travellerspoint.com. Fairly similar to ballofdirt but a much nicer customisable interface. I don't really like the navigation pane on the right hand side though. Its a bit messy and if you were to start trying to read a blog its hard to know where you are chronologically?

Finally the site I'm leaning towards most at the moment, travelpod.com. Seems to have a lot more features than any other sites I've looked at such as the ability to intersperse photos throughout the text of the blog, link to google earth and most importantly upload videos!

Like I said though I havent actually used any of these sites so some of them could have some hidden pitfalls like really long upload times for photos? All of them have ads in them though which seems unavoidable unless you create your own page! Hope this helps :D

I setup one for my bro a while ago... It use to be at andytravels.com

But he never renewed the domain name, but it can still be found at:
    http://www.technostore.ie/andytravels

Its handy to setup and free... Though you will need your own webspace..

I went with bootsnall.com for mine, but it's been terrible; things don't work a lot.
From reading others it seems travelblog.org is the best.

(And I also think this is best suited to the Travel forum)
