    Hi,
My sister want to get married in or around Galway somewhere that has a license for a civil wedding.. She doesn't really want to get married in a hotel, or anything large capacity venue... there will most likely only be max 15 people at the wedding, so we were looking for somewhere really small, quaint and Irish! She lives in Scotland at the mo so i'm doing my best to find somewhere, but have come up stumped..
Does any one have any ideas? Thanks x

How about Bridget's Garden in Galway?

I don't know whether they have a license for a civil wedding though...

when i was talking to the hotel i booked, they said that they had gotten a license after a couple asked them about getting married in the hotel. they said it was easy enough to apply for and they get to keep it for future weddings,
so i was thinking maybe it would be easier to find a few venues you like, and ask them if they would be prepared to apply for the licence so that you can hold the wedding there?

otherwise, would the registrar be able to give you a lists of places that have been granted??, best of luck in your search.,

    Hi There,

We are getting married this year in Ashford castle (its been granted for civil ceramonys). We are having 40 people at the wedding. Cant wait, it is also suitable for smaller parties, we even saw photos of a wedding there with only 6 people, so it can be small and intimate as you want.

Best thing is it is NOT costing the world to have the whole thing there.

Our registrar is coming from Castlebar to perform the ceramony.

    Good luck

    Hi there

An option you could look into is Lisloughrey Lodge in Cong. It's a hotel but doesn't feel like a hotel, more a cool country house. They have a licence for civil weddings, because a friend of mine was enquiring recently and she loved the idea of the place

I thought they had but I could be mistaken.

Best thing Ashford could have done was getting the licence. Such a beautiful location especially when you can get some amazing shots especially at night.

Shot a couple of weddings there and its a cracking location especially for the smaller numbers. Food is good, staff are lovely and the location is amazing (if the weather is on your side). Lisloughrey used to be part of Ashford Castle estate but is a separate entity now.
