What options are there for direct printing to blank CD/DVD..
What I mean by direct printing is feeding the disk in to the machine without the plastic guide thing found with some printers, I know there are printers that you simply feed the disk into a slot in the front of the printer..

I know that Nero comes with some software for this. That prints on to the CD/DVD in the printer.

There is also some software - Lightscribe, which burns images on to the CD/DVD directly. It requires a Lightscribe enabled drive, as well as the software. (Google).

    Hope this helps.

I think the software is not the issue, but the hardware.

I have the plastic feeder. You need to buy CDs that are suitable to print on (Verbatim produce them, HN have the CDs but not often the DVDs).

    Printer is a HP.

    Cheers folks.

I want to just stick the cd into the printer the way you slide a cd into a car stereo !

Must be full colour so lightscribe is not an option here.

I use an epson r360 and it prints directly to cd/dvd's using a tray. Very simple to use and very fast in action. I use it to print up all my wedding dvd's

I've only just bought a lightscribe drive but I would be very interested to see how much the compatable printers cost. The lightscribe takes about 15 mns to do!

I also have the Epson R360, and have a Lightscribe enabled DVD burner, but I've never used either to print/burn an image on to the CD cover.

    Curious about it all now.

i have the same printer and have used the tray to print onto the printable cd's and dvd's. The epson software that comes with it is very easy to use. Lightscribe is a sepia type effect. what you are looking for sounds costly. Depending on volume and if you want graphics or just text there are some stnad alone printers for disc printing.
