DAB radio - poor reception of RTE stations?

I own a Sony DAB radio I bought over a year ago and I love the crystal clear reception I get - it's miles better then the standard FM. However I am finding that receiving any of the RTE stations is problematic - sometimes they are fine, but most of the other time they are simply absent.

I never have any issues receiving any of the non-RTE DAB stations such as Newstalk etc, so i'm not sure if it is a problem with the Sony set or just a problem with RTE's committent to DAB. I've been thinking it's RTE not giving a toss: a lot of their DAB output is just recycled stuff or simply a long playlist and about 6 months ago one of their DAB stations was broadcasting a mobile phone conversation between one of their producers to another employee and this same 2 minute conversation was on a loop for at least an hour. So i'm thinking they are not bothering monitoring the DAB service at all.

Would anyone have any advice on this? Newstalk is ok but i'd like to get Lyric and RTE1 back and others! I'm based at ParkWest (near the M50 and red cow) if this is a reception issue.

RTE use a different mux to the commercial stations

RTE using a different mux has little to do with this reception problem, as the two multiplexes have virtually equal coverage in Dublin.

I'm listening to the RTÉ mux no problem but sadly I can't tell what transmitter is serving me as I'm in an overlap of coverage.

Reposition the aerial or move the radio to a different room is all you can do without spending money.

I've had effectively perfect reception of the RTE mux of late (its on in my car all the time), home->work (except for a specific dead spot) and home->the border and vice versa.

I'd suggest you adjust your aerial slightly - the different frequencies and possibly different SFN timings between Mux 1 and Mux 2 could make the difference between the RTE and Commercial muxes coming in strong.

Thanks for all your replies - I did do a "reset" last night on the set (this is where I reset the DAB radio back to factory settings) and this has improved the non-RTE DAB stations but still no RTE.

I'll try fiddling with the aerial and/or moving the set to different locations tonight.
