Can't make calls on Vodafone with unlocked phone

I recently bought an unlocked HTC Touch and want to use it with my Vodafone pay monthly SIM card. When I first put in the SIM I could make and receive calls but after about on hour this stopped working. I can still send and receive texts and found if I put the SIM back into my old phone (Nokia E61 bought from Vodafone) and then swap it back it works for another hour or so.

I assumed this must be something to do with the IMEI number so I changed this on my Vodafone account but the problem still occurs. Is there anything else I need to do?

this was happening a customer of mine for a few day, in the end they were using a barred handset, it may also be a problem with the phone- may need a repair. There have been a few problems with vodafone in my area over the last few days;(

Sounds like your phone is EIR barred....Usually happens when a phone is reported as lost or stolen to a mobile phone company...Only way to get it released is to get a proof of purchase and provide it to the mobile phone company who barred it.
