Hi, am moving to UK tomorrow for a year and will be buying a mobile there, still not keen on getting tied to a contract

I'd say phone would mostly be for texting, some calls and the very very occasional web browsing (was half-looking at the Nokia 3120 classic but that may not be a good idea)

anyway, I couldn't find any good sites with a comparison of all the networks. Anyone any experience? Am with vodafone here but they are a rip-off here (most expensive of all vodafone networks in EU here in IRL) and I would leave them if I started using the mobile a lot, doubt I'd be rushing to them in the UK. Any suggestions?

OK, I think your best option is 02 UK, ORANGE VODAFONE and then Three, moreless in the above order. 02 UK are a good enough network (unlike here) but orange is just as good.

    PS:

Bring your vodafone mobile with you anyway, cheap calls back home this summer, make sure you have vodafone passport activated too... before you go, choose between the free vodafone to vodafone calls and texts or any network texts in case the opt in period is closed by the time you come home- their good enough money savers! tese offer can't be used in UK but will save you a good bit when you come home as their "for life offers"

    just my 2cents:D
