Hope this is right place for thisas it relates to indoor plants

I read about a simple moisture test for house plants. Place an empty glass in a fridge for a few hours. Then stand it on a table.

Problem is I cannot recall how to interpret results. The amount of moisture is indicated by how wet the glass gets or something like that?
