Not sure on the reliability of most links on this subject, but anyway...

Most people abhorr emos for one reason or another, and many would be happy to see them being banned but personally I disapprove of this reason. It's the backward logic that music is responsible for suicides/murders/depression/truancy/<insert adolescent social problem that no-one knows how to handle>, so the music and/or subculture should be banned/exterminated to eradicate the problem. It's quite like people blaming the Columbine massacre on Marilyn Manson, amongst other examples. How anyone could be that stupid is beyond me...

So what do y'all think? Any reason to ban emos a good reason, or does it look like 1984?

Emos look like the people described in !984. Black hair, squinty eyes and they stick to their own in groups. Personally, I'd support this, but not as much as the mass beatings of emo's in Mexico.

Banning emos is stupid IMO, Russia is banning emos and goths because they believe they're a "social danger" and "a threat to national stability". (acc. to Kerrang anyways) Its cause of the "suicide mentality", which makes no sense because not only emos committ suicide (very few do).Most take offence at being considered suicidal, Russia(and a lot of other people it seems) seem to think that this fashion trend causes self harm/depression/suicide instead of the psychological aspects, havent people evolved enough to be able to see the difference? And also if it has anything to do with emos/goths being dangerous or a threat, thats plain narrow mindedness, some of my best friends are emo/goths (or something very like them) and they're much friendlier, accepting and just well... nicer than the people I know who'd be considered "normal".
