I've been told that to get the benefits from using a gym you should go three times a week.

I want to join a gym. I'm working full time and transport to the gym would be a problem. So i would only really get in once a week. And once my car is on the road twice a week. Maybe even three - i don't know. I work long hours.

The gym closest to home (which is about 10 miles) offers a pay as you go service at 10 euro an hour. Worth this be worth my while for once a week. I could possibly get some walking in during the week depending on the weather. I've been told not to bother. ut surely some work in the gym is better then nothing.

I work long hours and the weight is slowly creeping on. How do people working full time get to a gym.

You could get a sdecent set of weights to use at home, then go to the gym as much as you can, when you can't, use what you have at home. You'll get enough cardio if you walk, like you said, or do a bit of cardio in the gym when you manage to get there and do your resistance training then a few nights a week at home + at the gym.

Surely you can squeeze in an hour/hour and a half 3 times a week.It may involve getting up earlier or spending less time in front of the tv.

I just have stuff at home. Your gym is 10 miles away, just walk to the door and back! Seriously, you can get cardio in during daily life, I see no need to set aside time, in fact you save time e.g. cycling is quicker than driving in dublin traffic.

It really is a matter of prioritisation. If you want to be fit you will make sure you get the time for it. For example I used to work a job that had me in the office or on call 90 hours a week. I still managed to train because after work and sleep being fit was my number 3 priority. Working long hours just means you need to be more organised. Good luck with it. If you need help with what to do to get the most from your time, just ask the lads here. There are some real experts.

My advice to you would be bodyweight exercises, such as push-ups, chin-ups, bodyweight squats, and for Cardio either jog, or cycle.

Just because you can't get to a gym more than once a week, does not mean you can only exercise once a week. The two are not always mutually inclusive.

Just with regards to the pricing - How much is an annual membership?

As you're talking 10e an hour, 1 session per week. Assuming you are going every week, thats 520e for the year.

It may be better just to get the membership so you can stay longer than an hour per session.
