Lately ive been looking for a dream guitar. i like metal so i chose a jackson dxmg. it s was perfect but with one problem - only one volume knob. This means i cant use the pick-up selector as a killswitch in a tom morello type way. im lookin for a guitar exactly like that one (shark tooth inlays, reversed headstock, floyd rose tremelo, humbuckers, black everything inc. hardware.) but with 2 volume and preferably 2 tone knobs. im not getting this guitar jus to do that specific technique but i need that option. i feel limited otherwise. Please post a reply.

    Add a killswitch.

Seeing as your in dublin theirs a few techy's who could install one for you.

Well that guitar would require drilling if you wanted to add a kill switch. May I make a suggestion that you Put in two concentric pots and use 2 volume 2 tone that way thus keeping it looking somewhat stock while adding what your looking for?

I'm fairly sure you can put in a stacked pot and get it rewired to work like a killswitch. I'd personally prefer to get a decent killswitch added because I don't like doing those kind of things with a pickup selector. I find it too slow and awkward compared to a button type killswitch.

Assuming there's enough depth in the cavity and you want to avoid any drilling or routing, I'd second the concentric pots idea, if you can find satisfactory looking knobs.

For even less effort, you could just rewire so it has two volume pots and no tone control. Personally, I wouldn't miss tone controls all that much, but that's down to yourself really.

I don't know enough about Jacksons or Jackson-type guitars to recommend something that suits right out of the box (as it were) but I'm sure you could find something close anyway.

ive found a guitar exactly the same (jackson RR3) cooler body and 2 volume 1 tone so i can do the pickup selector/killswitch (i call it pickswitch) there is two problems.

    1) There is no reversed head stock but im not worrying bout that.

2)it has seymour duncan pickups and i prefer the EMG HZ's that the dxmg has. i can get them changed easily cos theyre both passive. does anyone know anywhere or any guitar techs in dublin?
