Premium Club at The o2 (The Point)

So the new o2 will have something to distinguish the high class rollers from the rest of us peasants, The Premium Club: http://theo2.ie/premium-club/

Unless you were going to at least 30 gigs a year in that venue, I don't think it'd be worth it. If you go to 5 gigs a year there, which most people would find hard to do, you'd basically be paying an extra €300 for the privileges at each gig. Pricey.

I can't see the Terms and Conditions anywhere, but I was thinking, it could be a good idea to get a few people to chip in, depending on how many tickets premium club members can buy per show, it would guarantee us all great seats and between a few people, there would be enough varied taste to hopefully get our moneys worth throughout the year. There will be some gigs some of us will love to attend and others wouldn't dream of, so ticket restrictions wouldn't be an issue.

Has anyone seen the T+C's and know if this would be possible? Leonard Cohen is playing there in December, would be nice to have premium seats ;)

"All yours for €1,500* per person per year (incl. VAT)."

I'd imagine the terms and conditions say membership is non transferable and they give a photo ID card.

Possibly alright, but then again, it could just be a username and password to an area where you can buy these special tickets?

As Live Nation co-own The Point/02, and Live Nation are the parent company of a certain promoter, where does this leave discussions on this venue? More so negative comments when they inevitably come.

As far as I know that company only said there was to be no more mention of their promoted gigs, not anyone above them.

In fairness Live Nation are a huge international concert promoter, if we're gonna censor that discussion we may as well shut down the Gigs & Events board altogether.

The sticky refers to MCD venues also, I'd say the O2 is an exclusively MCD venue.

There are plenty of events and gigs in this country which aren't promoted by Live Nation. Have you seen the threads on this forum for local stuff for instance?

yeah got the T&Cs emailed to me:

"Priority booking means that you may reserve one (1) Ticket per Membership for an Event"

so it looks like only 1 ticket per member and you get 1st refusal of tickets a week after they go on general sale

That's pretty dire, you'd expect at least 1+ guest to be available.

Anyone see their VIP package for only €10,000 a year ex vat:eek:

Well perhaps that's discussion for a different thread because it raises a point that needs to be addressed by the mods or maybe even the Admins of boards.ie

Seeing as KevIRL is so efficient in lashing out the bans, perhaps he or one of his peers would be so kind as to shed light on whether Live Nation talk is to be lumped into the same category as other banned promoter talk or whether the 2 are to be treated as separate entities?

The old Point wasn't exclusive to any promoter and if Leonard Cohen is playing in the new Point and if his upcoming gig is going promoted by Aiken, then the new Point isn't exclusive to any promoter so it should be OK to discuss the new Point as a venue on here.

Cohen's last gigs here were promoted by POD. I don't know how these things work, but would it be likely they'd change promoters?

That is a joke! Why would anyone bother buying the membership when you can't buy a second ticket for a guest? Rip off.

They aren't targeting this at the general public though - it's meant for corporate clients, much like the premium boxes at Croke Park.

This O2 arena is getting so much stick already with its seating restrictions, promoter restriction, and priority seating for o2 customers.Doesn't feel like a venue built for the public.Sorry don't want to get all "multi-national-corporationy" but thats what it feels like.

That's probably because that's what it is.

Discussion on Live Nation or The O2 is allowed, as long as the events discussed are not promoted by MCD.

I sincerely doubt that The O2 will be MCD-exclusive territory; the old Point was never restricted to one promoter and I don't see that changing at least.

Nothing more cringewothy when a venue needs to be named after a multi-national,like a rake of English football stadiums now

Well, I certainly wasn't cringing watching Prince in the O2 in London last year. Frankly I couldn't care less what they call these places. Obviously on a corporate level, these multinationals are pumping serious money into the building and/or renovation of music venues in exchange for the naming rights.

Does that really bother you? Will you stand from afar while people flock to this "cringeworthy" venue or will you enjoy the vast array of performers it is bound to attract? Sorry, but don't understand the gripe.

I also seen Aretha Franklin in the 'Nokia Theatre LA Live' - a bit dollop of commercialism but we didn't care one bit, it's the music that matters tbh.

And did Nokia phone users get priority for tickets and seating like o2 customers will get?I doubt thats o2's way of saying gee thanks to all our loyal customers.

And to be honest I don't feel like walking into a venue that looks like a fukkin phone shop, http://www.theo2.ie I get that stuff thrown at me enough during the day, and going to a gig means being able to avoid it (oxeegen excluded).

Ah maybe I'm just bitter cos I switched to Meteor.

apparently not, only the member can use the tickets?

I don't see anything to say that the tickets can't be transferred.

Putting this here as the other thread was closed as it became event/promoter specific.

Looks good, pity the photos are wee bit small. Photo shows it's all seater configuration. For standing the first blocks are removed.

Nonsense. LN run the venue as a manager and anybody who can pay for it can hire it. Aikens already have 4 sold out Tina Turner shows in there.

I was in the venue during the week and let me tell you that it is a venue built for the public. Every seat is a good seat and there are no premium seat areas or boxes. If you are a premium ticket holder you get access to a special bar area and then you sit in beside the standard ticket holders for the performance. All O2 is get is access to pre-sale tickets - something that mant bands offer their fans anyway.
