Article in the paper - sharing my joy

I really have to share my joy, as sad as it may be.

My first job was a party with Bertie Ahern on the guest list. He didnt sho so my pics never made it into the paper and I was disappointed.

A week later was my dad's 50th Birthday party, I spent most of the night taking pictures for him. A lot of the guests were asking if their picture would be in the Community Voice.

I thought I'd send a few in and see if there was interest, the editor, who I think actually does all the work himself e-mailed me back and asked me to write a few words which I did. I didn't hear from him again.

Today I got a phone call from a very happy dad to see there was an article in the paper on him!

Ok so I'm not breaking the bank as it wasn't a paid job or anything but I'm so happy I actually had something published even if it is in a free newspaper!

They didn't even change any of my words:D

    Here's the picture;

And the article: (I'm no journalist so don't expect much;))

St Peregrine’s celebrate the half-century man

Paul Harte, chairman of St. Peregrine's GAA Club on Blakestown Road, Clonsilla, celebrated his 50th birthday party in the Clubhouse recently.

In true traditional fashion, entertainment on the night was provided by Ciotóg who kept the ballads and craic going all night long. Brendan Harte, Paul's brother, was also there to entertain people with a host of magic tricks.

In attendance on the night, amongst family and friends, were faces old and new of St. Peregrines GAA Club, including longstanding members such as Bob Gaynor, Eoin and Joan Gilhooley, Derek Farnham - who played on the club’s first under 10 team, Ben O'Neill, Alan Abbey, Louise and Mark McSherry and many more.

Guests Kevin Fox and Wayne Byrne took to the stage to sing along with the band but most memorably Leon, of Chinese decent took over the microphone to sing a traditional Irish song as well, if not better, than any of the Irish guests.

Thanks, I'm only looking at it now and realising that it is slightly off centre, I'm hoping the one printed isn't as it had no watermark or border.

I've been watermarking all my internet pics since someone downloaded edited and then uploaded a pic I took of them!

I know the feeling, recently got this into the Northside People.

Good shot! I have my dad collecting papers from the neighbours as I'm not in the area:D

I'm delighted though with the picture they chose to use as that's my little brother with him and he doesn't usually pose for photos. They've both been in the paper so many times through football but never together!

Did you get paid for your shot?

Ah thanks Buzz - my little brother used to call my little girl buzz when she was still in my belly - he was only 5 bless.

Dad was delighted with his birthday and this topped the lot for him too!
