Hey, im looking at buying a 450d this weekend off this site but have fears of paying duty or any form of tax. This was mentioned on another post that becuase they are in the channel islands you could end up paying both irish vat and uk vat. Has anybody bought from this crowd or had any problems. THanx for any help

I know two people who have bought one from them. No duty. Some saving on it. I saw it in Harvey Normans today for €999. I think it's between €700 and €800 in other shops.

    Hey Emma,

You might want to consider Jessops as well. No tax worries and they are doing really good deals at the moment. I got this bundle a few weeks ago and am really happy with it http://www.jessops.com/Store/s74764/1-136-481/Home/Cameras--and--Lenses/Digital-SLRs/Canon/EOS-450D-Twin-Lens-Bundle/details.aspx Excellent value for money.

P.s. You have to order over the phone from Ireland, online thing doesn't work...

I think 7dayshop split up orders into smaller shipments as to avoid any duty issues.

They normally do that for items worth less than £18 each, but for something expensive like the 450D they will probably charge the regular UK VAT rate so Irish customs should not have any interest in it.

&dayshop charge UK Vat on ALL sales. Check their web site for details.

One thing with them - they are a bitch to deal with. No phone contact, no email contract. After two weeks if you have a problem they say take it up with the manufacturer.

Buy it from www.komplett.ie Not really much difference in the price.

I haven't had any issues with contacting 7D shop. All cancellations and delays were sorted without any problems.

The only problem I have had with 7dayshop is they did not accept my credit card a couple of times.

On one order I placed with them I had ordered a Battery Charger & it did not arrive. Sent them an email & they said it had been sent & must have been lost in the post, but they sent me another one anyway.

Used them to buy my 40D and a grip a few other bits.
UK vat was charged. No problems getting in touch with them either.
