That should do the job. Just to let you know tvs don't make good monitors.

They don't? I have a 15'' LCD monitor currently but I watch a fair bit of stuff on it during the footie season and I was thinking of getting the TV set up for the new season. I know it will make the picture a bit more pixellated but by getting a bigger picture I thought all in all it would be bigger.

Also I was thinking of putting my Xbox 360 online but my broadband isn't wireless so I thought it would be cheaper (and a better picture for my 360) for me to hook the TV up to the PC instead of buying a wireless (modem)router, 360 wireless reciever (better than leaving the laptop on all the time to pick up the signal and relay it to the 360) and then the official Microsoft Xbox cable to allow me to hook my 360 up to my monitor.

They'll be grand for video and games but for text they're pretty rubbish.

should work fine , but the best way to connect a tv to a pc is vga, but lcd/hdtv's are the only ones you'll find vga ports on, standatd tv's wont have it

Edit: connecting your xbox to the pc monitor is deffo the way to go , brilliant image compared to normal definition tv. how ever you have to remember there will be no sound unless your monitor has audio in, else your have to connect to speakers or route the sound through the pc.

you also say you want the xbox online , if its beside the pc and the pc is wireless, use the netowrk cable that came with the xbox to connect the the pc and xbox , theres a bit of fiddling involved but you can basically share the pc's internet connection with the xbox saving you €90 on not having to buy the xbox wireless addaptor ;-) this is how i am set up at the moment the down side is the pc has to be on

I didn't know the picture of an Xbox would be that good on a 15'' LCD screen instead of a bigger normal TV. The monitor has sound in alright, the offical Microsoft Xbox to Monitor AV cable set covers the sound too, it's about €30 afaik.

ATM the Xbox isn't beside the PC you see. If I ever have access to wireless that's what I do, I use my laptop to recieve the signal and then send it to the Xbox via the ethernet cable. It's either:
Buy the S-Video to RCA cable and the Stereo to 2 Phono plugs cable and bring the TV and Xbox to beside the Broadband and have a better picture for watching footie on the internet but a worse one for the Xbox?
Cheapest ~€15
Buy the Xbox AV monitor cable set and bring the Xbox to beside the Broadband and not have a better picture for the footie but a better one for the Xbox? ~€30

Buy a wireless router (might have to be a wireless modem router), Xbox wireless adaptor (don't really want to leave my laptop turned on that long while I'm playing my Xbox online)Dearest option ~€150
Also does anyone know how strong Eircom 2mb will be wirelessly after possibly having to go through a Netopia modem and then transmitted wirelessly using a separate router, Will it be strong enough for online gaming in the end?

If its an HDTV all the better. And if you have a Desktop machine and youre out splashing about with an HDTV spend the extra 100 quid and get a graphics card with an HDMI out. That will double as a desktop display surprisingly well.

Because the Xbox isn't in the same room as the modem and there isn't space for both a TV and a monitor in the one corner.

I'm at the complete opposite end of the country to you I'm afraid.

Pity your not local i have exactly what you want in short or 10 metre lenght,
I have for example:
10 metre s video to svideo
10 metre rca to rca lead
1 x stereo jack to 2 rca
1 x scart plug with svideo and 2 x rca for audio

This would do you for 10 metres.

Also lots of options in short lenghts.

Give me a shout if you cant find locally and we can discuss price and postage.

Regards,
Kieran
