    Hi all,

That Giant Hybrid we spoke about before is still giving me punctures so I need to replace the tyres. Trouble is I'm supposed to be going on a big spin in 2 weeks time so I need to order them fast.

I'm hoping for better puncture protection than the rubbish tyres the bike came with without falling over at the sight of rain so I'm going to go with the gator skin over the armadillos.

Trouble is I can't find any in 700 x 26c, so can someone confirm that 700x25c should fit ok?

Chain reaction are out of stock and I'm not sure where else is good/reliable.

Does anyone know of a different site that will deliver these over the next fortnight?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Was it 700x26c that came on it originally? If so, I'd be surprised if 700x25c don't fit. The wheel rim should hopefully have it's size on it and you can vary the tyres up and down a bit. If the rim doesn't have it, I'm sure somebody more knowledagble here will be able to tell you for definite what the numbers mean and how to measure it. I have 1/2 a feeling (without being bothered to look it up) that the 25 is 25mm width of the rim - but I'm way open to correction on that.

I've got a 700x28c wheel and I've put 700x25c tyres on it no problem. It made a nice improvement actually!

Yep.. 700x26c is on the tyre.

It says 125psi on it but I was advised that 90 was plenty.

Cyclesuperstore.ie have the gatorskins but they're a bit more expensive than CRC. They do delivery or you can collect from Tallaght.

Wiggle also have them, for a euro or two cheaper. They'll delivery in 3 days.

You can learn more than you ever wanted to know about tyres, sizing and rims here:

    http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire_sizing.html

There is a section on what tyre size is appropriate for what internal diameter of the rim. There is no need to worry about 25 vs. 26 widths, the difference is minimal, or millimal, in fact, it's a millimeter, har har!

And there is a section on pressure on the following page:

    http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tyres.html

    summary: 700x25c tyre, 70kg rider: 90psi, 100kg rider: 110psi, between-kg rider: between-psi ;-) edit: adjust downwards for wet weather.

I've done a couple '000 km on Gatorskins with 1 puncture. They are great tires.
