TV Show(s) of the Week #9: The Cheesy American Soaps of the 80s

    So who remembers shows like Dynasty, Dallas, The Colbys, Falcon Crest, Knots Landing etc.? Will anyone be brave enough to admit watching them when they were on? (Or even worse better, admit to watching them on UK Gold, Living and similar channels now?) I've been known to catch a glimpse at Falcon Crest on RTE1 in the mornings (perfect breakfast TV). I'm not proud of it.

    While a thread about any one of these shows might crash and burn, there should be enough discussion points between all of them to get a decent conversation going!

    These shows also had complete mastery of the season cliff hanger. Through the power of youtube, you can see them all ....

    Its a shame that they don't really make shows like this any more. Hmmm... maybe they do. Have they evolved into a format beyond what they once were? Are shows like Lost/Heroes/Prison Break just evolutions of Falcon Crest and Dallas? JR Schofield? :)

    American soaps, is the any kind other than cheesey????

    Dallas and Dynasty were nothing. For cheesey American soaps, look no further than Days of our Lives. Apparently the bizzare storylines witnessed by viewers in Friends with Joey's part on the show were nothing compared to the actual storylines in the show (sample: charcters consistantly coming back from the dead, amniesa, terrorism, brainwashing, appearances by the devil!)
