Was hoping for some advice on pre tri and indeed race day food and fluids, struggled with cramp during a tri. last year and don't want to repeat the same mistakes.
So apart from hydration before, what sort of breakfast and fluids do people generally go for on race day? and during the race are gels the best option and why?

    thanks

assuming its olympic distance or under - don't change your diet or fluid intake. Do what you normally do.

Before a race I will take a gel 20 minutes before hand and sip a carb drink on the bike - maybe 300ml-500ml. If its an olympic distance a gel at the beginning of the bike.

Other than that you're body should have the calories to do the event.
