    Anyone notice that the two drunk (Irish?) cops are called 'Polk' and 'Mahone'
    As in Póg Mo Thón. I figured that was intentional.

    Just started watching it, and by god what a good piece of television. Can't think of a TV series this well made. Loved the bit at the end of the first series where Rawls abruptly says to McNulty, "so where don't you want to go?"

    Simon pretty much verifies that it was intentional if you scroll along to about the 37 minute mark in this radio interview he did with Ryan Tubridy a few months back.
