Should I alter or lower the weight I'm lifting?

    A few weeks back I decided to up the weight in a few exercises. The problem is since I've uped it I can't seem to complete the last set I just go to failure which is usually between 4 and 6 reps usually the lower range. I usually start on a lighter weight with higher rep and then go up in weight and down in reps but since I've gone up in weight I can't seem to squeeze out the last set. For example if I was doing a barbell curl I'd go

    12x20
    10x25
    8x30

    Or I'd try get the 8 but usually only hit about 4. Should I change how I'm lifting or go back down in the weights again or what cause I've been like this for bout 3 weeks now and it's happened on a few exercises. Thanks for the help.

    You don't always have to up the weight. If something is not working then change it around. Keep the same pyramid from before you upped the weight but aim to do 3 x 10 one week then 3 x 12 the next. Or keep the old weight again but add on another set of 8 for the last weight.

    Just find what works and stick at it. If or when that stops producing results then change things around, whether it be intensity, volume, choice of exercise etc. just keep it simple.
