Hey, I'm in the middle of inter railing with a few friends and we'ev over looked booking a hostel to stay at until now. We're looking to stay for 4 or 5 days from the eighth of Augest. Looking at the prices of places online they're all at about fifty euro a night which seems really extreme especially for twenty people rooms and the like.. Can anyone recommend a good hostel? Appreciate the advice.

Where are you getting €50 out of?? €25 would be standard.

Hostelworld.com has most the hostels in Amsterdam. As there's a few of you in it you might like to consider a flat. I don't know if Amsterdam cribs is still going but they have very smoker friendly apartments.

The flying pig is fairly good but the best hostel I've been to (for comfort) is the bulldog 5star hostel. It has a bar with coffee shop next door.

Downtown and Uptown are both booked but cheers. The beech branch is available but it isn't sounding very accesible. Hostel World is telling me it doesn't have much to offer.
I'm a little annoyed at one or two of the guys as it was their job to book things ahead. There the only ones with credit cards.
Oh well. I'm sure we'll stumble in somewhere. The guys seem confident about it anyway.
PS. Vienna rocks. Prague, not so much.

Sandor, go to Bobs youth hostel , i stayed there 3 weeks @ 20 a night with breakfast included. i loved the place, really cool staff and you meet some mad people there too in the common room.

just checked a business card they gave me :

    booking@bobsyouthhostel.nl
    info@bobsyouthhostel.nl

its really close to the centraal station too.like 3 minutes.

and if you're booking from a site like hostelworld the guys at bobs told me they put up about 10 beds per day on the site and have about 90 for people who come before 1pm and just turn up and book in. easy as. i hope this comes useful to you OP.

Booking a hostel in Amsterdam is a nightmare. I actually managed to get a 2* hotel cheaper than a hostel, private room, breakfast etc, Some hostels were looking for more money for large dorms. www.hotel-bellington.com

Bobs Hostel was decent - and only like 15 euro a night. Very laidback and very young crowd.

Flyingpig is also the business according to a few friends who spent a week in the happy house :D
