regular poster here going unregged for this! - -

    will be brief - -

been in a relationship for 2 years, came off the pill a week and a half ago after being on it for six years, and three days later after i was supposed to start my new cycle (ie after my period) i had unprotected sex with my boyf - he came inside me! Am planning on a pregnancy test, but it has only been two days since and I need to wait another day or two before doing a test. Mods - - I'm not looking for medical advice, but I am asking, in the opinion of others, am I likely to be vulnerable to falling pregnant so soon after coming off the pill? Just a little worried about it. Will be doing a test this weekend anyway, but thought I'd seek the frank opinion of others!

    Cheers again,

    S.

are you trying to get pregnant?? if so make sure you are taking floic acid tablets.

from what i can gather you only had unprotected sex 2 days ago, and your period from the pill ended 5 days ago. i dont think you will get an acurate pregnancy test until around 4 weeks from the end of your period, i think you should wait a few more weeks, treat your body as if you were pregnant until then ie no smoking or drinking and take a test in about 3 weeks time. if your not trying then use protection.

it is unlikely after 6 years of being on the pill that your system would go back to normal straight away. i came off the pill once and waited over 3 months to get my first natural period, i spent a fortune on pregnancy tests during that 3 months and each time the chemist said it was not uncommon for women not to have got back into a natural rhythm.

That said, it is entirely possible to get pregnant after missing only one pill, and as you missed 3 that would raise your chances again. If you are worried speak to your gp or chemist for some professional advice.

best of luck which ever way you are hoping the outcome is,

basically you take 7 day break with the pill ebery month, the hormones in the pill build up through the 21 of taking it therefore you are protected for the 7 days break. you may have still had enough hormones in your body to protect you from pregnancy but as always there is a chance that you may be pregnant.
and as the other poster said im not sure if youl get an accurate reading so soon, but its worth a go.
    best of luck

i was on the pill for 9 months, and came off it about 2 weeks ago and i have still been naughty with my boyf.. to be honest.. im probably foolish..

however.. i know a girl who was on the pill for 2 years.. and couldnt get pregnant for over 6 months because she was remotely infertile from the hormones in her system for that length of time..

i believe you will be safe.. mind you.. ''it only takes one sperm'' however if you were to plan a baby, it would take a few months i imagine.

one time, after being on the pill for 3 months and coming off it again.. i was bold for a whole month and i was safe..

    its risky though :)

    Risky advice.

You are offered no protection if you are not taking the pill and there is no scientific evidence to suggest that you are protected once you have stopped taking it. This common myth of suggesting it takes time to work out of your system is idiocy. Look at the amount of girls who consistently take the pill for years, miss one tablet, and then get pregnant!

If you don't want to get pregnant OP then take proper precautions. Yes, there is a chance you could be pregnant so no point in starting the pill again until you have taken a test. First Response can be used a few days before your period is due so I would advise you go to your pharmacist and get that or alternatively get your GP to do the test.

    Good luck

Yes, you may be vunerable. It might not be very likely, but there is always the possibility of becoming pg if you have sex without using contraception.

The experience of other posters, their friends etc isn't relevant, because every woman's body is different, and will react differently to coming off the pill.

If you don't want to get pregnant and you only had unprotected sex two days ago you can still take the morning after pill. You can take it up to 72 hours of having unprotected sex.
Better get an appointment asap today though!

The OP had unprotected sex seven days ago, too late now for the morning after pill or the insertion of an IUD. At this stage a pregnancy test will be required.

    Hi OP,

This happened my little sis a month ago.. she did not talke the morning after pill and stayed off the pill for the month..

She felt dizzy and sick all month.. anyways not to alarm you or anything but she went to the doc last monday (after 4 first responce tests said she was not pregnant).. and the doc's test proved inconclusive.. the doc did internal examination and congradulated her!!!...so i thought i was going to be an aunty...

Then doc said to come back next week for another test to confirm...sooo now we don't know, clear blue came up negative last night so she is so so so confused..

Bottom line is that the doc thinks there is a chance she could have gotten pregnant during the same time in her cycle that you have unprotected sex..and my little sis only 22...

Best of luck, take care of yourself and keep us posted!!!:)
