How tall is too tall?

Im 5ft8 in my feet and im after buying a pair of 5inch shoes which will leave me at 6ft1 :eek:

Im wearing them to ladies day at the races tomorrow but im afraid ill be too tall in them!

Which leads me to the question, how tall is too tall for a girl?

One thing I'll say 'bout the shoes is that unless you're good with your heels or they're super comfortable they'll kill you at the races. Feck all seating!

Wear them and enjoy - they're gorgeous. Hold your head high and be proud of your height. A lot of tall girls slouch and there's no need.

Being 5'11 I've developed a few opinions on this.

If I am going out to actually score I will wear flats. However, if I'm going out with my 5'9 and 5'10 friends for a bit of a dance etc, I will put on whatever height heels I feel like.

Also depends on the size of the place. I once wore heels to a small pub and felt massive. A big open spaced club won't make you look as tall.

So, basically, it depends on my company, my agenda and my destination!

I think at 5'11 I'm verging on too tall and I rule out a good deal of the male population. Still, it has it's benefits!

great shoes. bring a pair of fancy flats though because you will need them. less bulky metallic gladiator sandals are great for that. Have fun!

I'm the same, only very few of my girlfriends are also tall, I don't generally wear heels to the local, and don't spend a lot of time in clubs, yet can't stop buying heels...

I'm 5ft 11 girl - and would only love to be wearing heels like that! I'm the one in the shoe shop nearly weeping as all i can see is fabulous high heel shoes!! also i'm usually crying out how i want to be a small person. However i believe personally that i can't. anything over 2inchs leaves me feeling like a towering giant. Many of my friends are alot shorter - my best mate being 5ft 4. So if i'm out with them i generally have to wear flats as i honestly can't hear a conversation if we are all standing up.
My other half is just 6ft so there is only a difference on an inch but i'd feel akward any taller than him - call me old fashioned if you like!

Nah DubLegs, its not old fashioned! it's natural. I'm the same height as you and one of my closest friends is under 4ft, my goal in life is to marry a 6'6+ man and wear gigantic pretty heels all the time haha!

I wouldn't call it a problem as such. If we were out and i was looking at shoes i'd usually judge the heel on the height i was beside him. If they were like 4inch heels he'd tell me to look away from them cos i'd be too tall.
I just prefer to look up to my man rather look down on him! I think he's the same - as in look down towards his girl.

I know alot of ppl would love to be tall - but my god what i wouldn't give to be half a ft smaller!!!!!!!!
I'd probably be overweight but i'd have sooo many fantastic shoes!

im 5ft 10, always wear heels out even tho i feel like a giant sometimes!!:) slightly taller than my boyf when im in heels but he doesnt mind!!

I am 5'9" and hate it... I feel so much girlier in heels but they make me too tall- I nearly cry in shoe shops, all these fabulous shoes I can't wear... It doesn't help that my boyfriend is about 6'0 which means I am taller than him in heels...

Strange thing is when you look at photos of tall celebrities e.g. Rihanna, Cameron Diaz, they always wear heels going out!

I feel the same way when out shoe shopping, so know where your coming from. Though if your BF is 6ft then you should be able to get away with a bit of a higher heel than me.

Personally, I find tall girls extremely attractive, so certainly, wear those heels even if you are afraid of looking too tall, you'll probably look fantastic.

A male friend of mine used to be about 5'11 and has now shrunk to about 5'9 or 5'8- I wish I could so the same!!! He is 22- same as me- he reckons its because he sleeps so much.

Totally agree.
I work in a shoe shop and so many women and girls are self conscious about their height....I'm 5 foot 9 and I wear five inch heels when I'm out, and during the day I rarely wear anything lower than 3.5/4 inches...

If you like wearing heels, then do it, and fúck the begrudgers.
And if a guy is píssed about it, then (a) he's really shallow or (b) is insecure....either way, if he's bothered about it, say you will go out and find a taller dude...then he'll change his tune

meh, i'm five ft 11 and i always wear heels, love my shoes and flats just aint sexy.

Would agree that alot of men are completely intimidated by height tho!!!

I am 5'9/10" and I will happily wear heels, though admittedly not as much as I did as a teenager (I used to wear humungous clumpy platforms with my school uniform, in fact my calves used to hurt when I switched to flats at the weekends) I used to go out with a guy who was 6'5" so wearing heels was great, my current boyfriend is about my height or a little taller but it doesn't stop me wearing them if I want to! Heels make your legs look fantastic, and they instantly make you feel more glamorous. Be tall and proud! Slouching isn't pretty, feel confident with your height and everyone will wonder who the striking tall girl with the fabulous shoes is!

I'm 5'10' and I'd normally wear flats, a 2 inch heel at most. I just hate walking in heels and I don't see the point of them when I'm tall enough already plus you can get some really cute kitten heels

I know a girl who is taller than her boyfriend, he's six foot and she loves it and it doesn't bother him, she's constantly going out in high heels and rubs and stretches her legs like they are her prize possessions! :rolleyes: Personally I'm around five foot five and happy at it!
