Best mouse?

I'm looking for a new optical mouse for my laptop(doesn't have to be laptop sized).

I tend to do a lot of gaming and graphics editing. I find that the mouse I had "jumped" a lot, like if I tried to draw a line it would come out in "steps" seemed to have a very poor resolution at high speeds.

I don't want to spend a ton on a mouse either though. I just need two buttons and a scrolly wheel.

Was the old one optical too ar a ball one? If a ball (stating the obvious now) did you clean the track rollers inside it?

If it was a ball mouse he wouldnt be talking about resolution

As for a mouse, The mx518 is nice for gaming as it has a nice high res 1600dpi which is changable.

I used an MX518 for gaming for years, love it and I still have one or two around the place for other PCs etc

Im using a Razer Deathadder atm, its the bomb But seriously its technically the best gaming mouse atm and is favoured by lots of pros, Its also comfortable and looks cool

The new version of the logitech G5 is cool. I got it on dabs for cheaper than it was selling on komplett.

that mx518 does not appeal to me at all: its the shape that kills it.

The Logitech G9 seems to be getting the best reviews all round but I have yet to try it myself. I'm looking for a gaming mouse myself and I was originally going to go for a Razer but they seem to be a bit rubbish for anything that isn't gaming so I'll be getting the G9.

I got a Saitek GM3200 laser & love it, its got removable weight to suit your own preferences, I've some of them removed to make it lighter. You can change the dpi on the fly. I do find tho that 3200dpi is impossible to game with, far too sensitive and use mostly 1600dpi for first person shooters and sometimes 2400dpi for other games.

Another +1 for the Razer Death Adder. I''ve had a G5 and a Fatality mouse and neither could touch the death adder in terms of comfort or performance. imo anyway.
