    If you are going to the US do you need to register or something online a few days before going? I heard murmerings of this but no more.

    YUP! It's called Advance Passenger Information. Your airline will have information about this on it's website.

    You have to give API as noted above.

    From the 01/08 the ESTA will also have to be complete prior to travel, but it isn't compulsory until next year. http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1990.html

    it means that until jan 12th 2009 you wont need to do anything other than turn up at the airport with your tickets as you normally would

    i had to put my passport number into the continental website, but i got a new passport now - going to bring the old one with me too.. hope im ok going through... oh btw does anyone know if continental flight co23 goes thru immigration in Dublin or in newark

    I think it is a non stop flight so you will go through immigration in Dublin.
