Recruiters are telling me an MCP would compliment my CCNA nicely but I'm a little confused after reading through http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/certifications.mspx.

There are so many exams and many of them appeal to me. If I get one would I be a MCP or do I need several? Should I start with MCSA progressing onto MCSE?

Is it a good idea to be planning on first getting a year experience with in company helpdesk support and then applying for junior server/network admin positions?

Just start of with one maybe a client OS should be easy enough and get you into the swing of it..

then choose the path that most interest you.

e.g. if you're into security you could go down the MCSE+security route and move on to CISSP etc

do whatever you're interested in most.

You might get more advice over at IT Certification - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=882

CCNA is a nice one to have under your belt. If you complete a Microsoft exam then you have 1 MCP. However you will need a few MCP's to get a MCSA/MCSE. The microsoft site will give you more info. Maybe ease yourself in with 70-270 (XP) and then onto 70-290 etc. MCSA then MCSE is probably the way to go. Most companies will require some experience before they would accept you in a junior server/network admin position. Gotta do some donkey work first.
