Does anyone know of any place in the Letterkenny or surrounding area where you can recycle paper/cardboard as I have about a years' worth to get rid of?
    Cheers.

Don't they charge for taking it?

    /hint,

If you don't mind a short drive, go to Strabane and throw it into the recycling skip at either Asda or Better Deals. ;)

Unless one has opened very recently, there is no Amenity Site in Letterkenny. The nearest is probably the one in Stranorlar. Charge is €5 for car load.

I wasn't aware of smashey's tip, I would expect some glares of contempt from any passers by!

Not at all, both car parks a full of Donegal cars anyway. :D

The opening hours for that are Thursday 12:30 - 7:00
    Friday 08:30 - 2:00
    Saturday 08:30 - 2:00

Might do no harm to give them a ring first on 9172222 just to confirm those times

Fantastic facility to have. You can dispose of cardboard, paper, bottles, cans, bulbs, batteries, mobile phones, waste oil, electrical appliances, household furniture, fridges, carpets etc etc

The only things they dont appear to take would be building waste - blocks, mortar, copings etc, paint/paint tins or styrofoam products

Don't forget you have to buy your €5 ticket in a shop before going to the recycling depot. If you're coming from Letterkenny you can turn left at the petrol station and buy it in the supermarket on the left just around the corner.

you can use your laser card too.

absolute scandal that the largest town in the county by far still isn't catered for.
what are the town councillors doing at all apart from showing up at every possible photo oppurtunity.

I lived in Letterkenny for 3 years up until recently, and it seemed to me that even when I first moved there, councillors were talking about it. One time i heard about somewhere near the hospital being mentioned, another time it was that site on the Ramelton Road opposite Mount Errigal Hotel, near that roundabout.

It's not so bad here in Donegal Town, with a nice new Amenity site in nearby Laghey.

Shouldn't be beyond the wit of the council, which has vacant land around Letterkenny, to find somewhere for this purpose immediately.

I hear the Milford site has been ready for some time but still isn't opened....

You would have thought that with the sale of the bacon factory the council would have had some money to plough back into Letterkenny for things that are needed. I think these things are well grant aided too so they should consider doing something about this before selling any more sites.

Perhaps they could get a developer to build one as part of a planning application
