I found a good hdtv on amazon.co.uk but when i try to order it it says
*** We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order by changing its quantity to 0 and clicking the update button below.

Whats up with that can i not order it just because i' m in Ireland?

Amazon don't ship electronic goods of ANY kind to Ireland. They never did in the past and probably never will, probably WEEE related.

Real shame that because their prices, most of the time are excellent.Ye know, if i was ordering a big tv, i wouldnt mind paying the weee myslef, i mean it aint that much.Amazon are completely right on the matter, htough. They shouldnt have to pay the weee for both countries.I hope they find some way around the problem in the not too distant future

They have to pay the WEEE for the country they put the stuff on the market too, so if they supply TVs to Ireland they are required to pay for the future disposal or recycling of the TV, and make a contribution to disposing of your old TV (if you have one to dispose of). The real problem is that they are required to 'take back' your old TV if you so wish, so they would have to arrange to take it back from you, or you would have to send it back to them!

Doesn't make commercial sense for them to do that, but if the likes of Power City are required to do it because they supply to the Irish Market then they would expect that anyone else who does so also has to abide by the same rules.

Pixmania ship to Ireland and are registered but I think that is because you can bring the stuff back to Currys or Dixons over here.

Could anyone recommend any good sites that do ship to Ireland apart from Play.com?

Play.com don't ship to electronic goods to Ireland also, WEEE related.
    You have Komplett.ie, Dabs.ie, Pixmania.ie & RicherSounds.ie

I found a good bargain tv on ebay but i've never bought anything on ebay before, do you think it would be safe? I'm also too young to have a credit card so i'd have to ask my mother and neither of us are sure how paypal works and do you have to use paypal?

And how long would it generally take for a tv to be delivered from France if i did bid for it?

Care to show a link from eBay for the TV. I'm very wary of buying electronic goods from eBay. The TV could be old shop stock, a refurbished or just crap. The warranty is going to be a problem more than likely also if it ever has a fault.

Some of their negative feedback is pretty off putting. Plus it's a stock photo. I try myself to never buy anything that is a stock photo. If it's a decent quality product than the seller should have no problem putting up a real picture.

They seem to use stock photo's for all there products so i don't think its because its defective. One reason i would have a bit of trust in them is because there a well known seller and have there own website but i'm not sure

Its a used TV, possibly even a refurb that was returned as faulty to Pixmania website as I mentioned in your other topic.
I would never buy a 2nd hand, used TV without actually seeing it working and functioning in front of me.

Freeview as in its current format is unusable in Ireland from tomorrow when the old MPEG2 system trails are turned off.
The new DTT trials and rollout in 2009 will use MPEG4 and will need new compatible tuners in TVs.

    Hello132,

I've deleted one of your threads at your own request and merged the other two - if you have queries on the same topic please keep them in the same thread, posting new threads doesn't get you a quicker answer.

Future multiple threads will be deleted.
