Portugal wedding v Caribbean honeymoon

I'm trying to decide which is best in the above.
How difficult is it to get married in Portugal? I want a civil ceremony, on the beach, with just immediate family (about 30 people incl kids).
I know the Algarve very well and know that food, drink etc is much cheaper than here, but is it the same for weddings?
If this turns out too expensive, would I be better off just having the small wedding here (civil ceremony in hotel), then flying off to honeymoon in Caribbean?
Someone else on boards suggested I pay for immediate family to come over to Portugal but that wouldn't be cheaper than reception here, would it?
I'm very confused about it all, so any advice would be good. Thanks!
