I notice on the same day, they're selling 2x 2GB PNY pendrives for 15eur which doesn't sound too bad.

Sure that's not that much of a bargain. PC World have one I seen for €119. (16mb cache, seagate drive)http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0015437471.1217375927@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccgadeekfmjledcflgceggdhhmdgml.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=908749&category_oid=-32889

I hate the way everyone presumes because it is a Lidl/Aldi deal - that is must be a bargain? Shop around folks!

better drives would have 16mb of cache

to be honest, the cache size isn't going to matter much, the limiting factor is the speed of the USB connection, so wouldn't be to worried about the speed of the drive, should perform similar to other external USB drives

What way does Aldis return policy work with things like computers?

Say if I were to buy one for some reason would I be able to return it the next day for some other reason?

They're great actually- I've never had any difficulty in getting a full refund there and then on the spot with them (tuner went in a Tevion panel and a few other bits and pieces). Their customer service is surprising good (I had very low expectations.......)

It depends on the reason it is not performing as expected. Is there an actual problem with the device (if there is- they will take it back). Does it simply not perform as you expect it to- but does it comply with its designed performance? Then you might have a problem. If you think it might be too slow- or not have sufficient cache- but a different drive elsewhere.

Computer equipment or other consumer items are not the sort of thing that you can roadtest and keep if you like them or return them if you don't.

If it does not meet merchantable quality- then it will be replaced/refunded.
