Doctor not concerned - I'm worried!

I used to use sunbeds alot, and over the past couple of months, all of my moles (most of which I was born with) have drastically changed. They have quickly become very irregular, multicoloured, raised and bumpy. My doc sent me to see a dermatologist who was clearly in a rush. She just glanced at them and said, "Just keep an eye on them." She did not even give me the time to show her them all, which was strange because my GP said that she would check my whole body. When I complained that one was itchy, the dermatologist gave me an appointment for next week to have that removed. But I want her to check me all over and test the others as well. I have almost all of the symptoms on the skin cancer leaflets. My question is, when I go to get the one mole removed, how can I make the dermatologist check me properly and remove the other moles for analysis too?

If you have multiple moles why in gods name would you use sunbeds continuously?? Boggles the mind.

Next time you see the dermy, all you can do is ask.

If you're not happy then ask your doctor for a referral to a different dermatologist.

Go back to your doc and ask to be referred to someone else. Don't rely on this dermatologist. Oh and stop using sunbeds.

What Cathoo wrote. Doctors are like any other service/profession out there, there are good mediocre and the downright bad. The system does it's best to weed them out but they do get through. This is a viable concern given your history of UV exposure. It may be nothing but second opinions are vital in a case like this. Get one.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

There's a procedure called mole mapping you can get done.

Basically a doctor gives your whole body the once-over & takes photos of all your moles. Then a computer blows up the pictures so they can see them in more detail.........I got it does cause I have LOADS of moles but all looked fine. Just have to get it done again in a few years.

Hmm...this sounds like something I think I need to get done. I have loads of little moles everywhere too, including a huge one on my knee that I've had since birth, one on the top of my bum, one on the underside of my toe and one on the sole of my foot! And there's loads more! None of them are the big wobbly ones though...

I dunno whether I'm imagining it or not, but I think I'm getting more...I don't know! When I was a kid I just thought they were all freckles

Insist on a different dermatologist. You won't feel comfortable going back to one who didn't take you seriously & it will play on your mind even if she says everything is ok.
