Hi all, basically I lost my p45 from my old job when I moved house recently. Will I need it to claim jobseekers benefit? If so how can I get a replacement document?

Also am I entitled to back payments from the last few weeks unemployment where I have not applied for benefit?

If you call the Tax Office and give them your P45 you should be able to get a replacement. You will beed this for claiming benefit.

You can only receive money from the day you sign on, and at that you loose your first 3 days. I don't think they give back pay from the day you became unemployed, only from the day you sign on.

    Hi Guys,

i lost the copy of my p45 ages ago, just after i applied for jsa. I was recieving JSA from september 2008-november 2008. My new employer is charging me emergency tax (395E this month!) but i have no p45 from my previous employer to give them. will the social provide me with a p45 seeing as i handed it into them when applying?

    thanks in advance
    x

contact your previous employer, they will give you a copy of your p45
you need to get this done before the year end, so when you get your p60 in january from your employer all you earnings will be on it, send your p60 in to revenue to claim back any tax over paid.
you will only need to do the above if your tax is not sorted before the year end.
