ive always been interested in shooting but its not something id spend a fair bit of money on. id been to a range before in the philippines run by an american guy there and id used a 45 shooting metal targets. last year he gave me his card and told him if i rang him in advance theyd get an m16 for me. so last week while i was there i got a go of it!

i fired 60 rounds, including renting the gun it was 2500pesos (~€35)
i was surprised though by how much it jammed (3 or 4 times) in 60 rounds. it was an m16 a2 i think. for a police issue rifle this seems pretty bad. im used to the 45 jamming cause they always do, i just expected more from the m16

Cheap/crap ammo perhaps? Or maybe the gun was in need of a good cleaning or was worn out and in need of repair.

Hi theliam, that sound like a blast (:D).

I'm amazed to hear you say that the '45' jammed a lot too, as they're generally considered to be very reliable handguns.
We are talking about a 1911 of some sort here, aren't we?-

If it was one of the above and it was jamming and giving trouble the same as the M-16, I'd suspect the guns in general weren't being maintained very well.

Had the pleasure of firing one on fully automatic last year in vegas, great bit of fun for about 20 seconds. As the same with you liam it jammed a few times. Was talking to the instructor afterwards and asked him was this quite common with the M 16. He said that it happens to often. All the instructors were either present day cops/ military or ex military. The instructor that we had was ex army and he did not like them at all he said they just had to many problems with them, both here were he was working and during his army career. But a great bit of fun was had by my wife and I firing them..

whatever make 45 was it was supposed to be similar to the colt 45, thats all i know... my brother was firing a 9mm pistol last time and had no such jamming issues.

it was great to fire. i was expecting alot more kick from it, so i had it well planted into my shoulder but there wasnt much. the longest burst i let go on auto was 4 shots. after 2 id well lost sight of my target. later, i wished i bought another 20 rounds and just let them all go at once:D:D
