    Hello there boards.ie
I am a new member and have very little experience in matters such as these so here goes!
I was diagnosed with a severe form of depression and will more than likely have to be perscribed something,i am however still determined to make my planned move to cork and go to college(wont let it crush my dreams!) thing is apparently getting a job may prove....difficult with this condition.
So the long and short of it,can i claim disability with a diagnosis of depression?
    cheers lads.
P.S Not sure if it matters but its apparently bi polar disorder.

Yes you can but it's up to the scheme's medical examiner to decide if you're depressed enough to qualify.
You can then apply for the Back to Education allowance for college after 1 year on Disability Allowance.

Thanks for the reply,i don't forsee a problem if they judge by severity of illness,it kinda made me miss my senior cycle in school due to a few bad spots and it is pretty restricting, but thanks very much for your help :)
