I'm wondering what you think of Mens waistcoats in a casual setting i.e. to clubs / informal parties etc?

Do you think they're kool or lame??

Having talked to friends, I'm getting quite differing opinions...

I like them, in a dirty indie kind of way, not really clean kind of way if that makes sense. Like worn with skinny jeans, dark shirt and nice shoes- not baggy jeans and Keds.

Waistcoats suck ass. Only get away with them as part of a three piece suit. I want to punch people who wear them "casually". They look so incredibly late eighties/early nineties, or worse, someone who thinks they're trendy now, or they're setting a trend. They were considered to suck ass 15 years ago. Nowadays they look like someone copying what sucked ass 15 years ago. You don't want to be that person.

they remind me of callum best when not worn with a three-piece suit, so for that reason alone - actually it's a pretty big reason - i'd say no

Saw a guy wearing a black vest over a dark striped shirt there last week, it looked HOT. Incredibly hot, but loads of people would probably look silly..

Yeah, the barman in my local hotel has to wear that too. Oh wait, you mean he was wearing it by choice?

Waistcoat + T-Shirt underneath = muppetry of the highest order.
Kind of "What boyband are you from?" stuff.

I'd buy il gatto a pint if somebody said that in a pub conversation, spot on. They look cracking with a suit, but that's where they belong I think.

Always remember mate, it's all "in my opinion" stuff- at the end of the day that's just my two cents, if you like what you're wearing then that's enough.

Granted it was the drummer (I think) out of McFly wearing one, but he looked hawt!

They can work. I like them. Obviosuly if you're on the wide side then steer clear! a chunky watch or cuff goes well too. ;)

The anger is strong in this one.

Don't forget the other heinous use of waistcoats: worn with nothing on underneath by long haired old guys at things like Vibe for Philo.

I suppose they've earned a sort of dispensation, due to massive drug and alcohol intake since the late seventies. Still looks kak:pac:
