Depends how much use you think you'd get out of them. I've never worn them so they'd be useless for me.

since I don't work on a farm/anywhere they're necessary, no. Although from what little I know wellies shouldn't cost that much

If it was for a festival I'd buy a pair of those €10-15 ones in Dunnes

€77 is crazy for a bit of rubber moulded to the shape of feet. I was in the UK once and was going to be out cutting wood for about 4 hours in the lashings of rain with no change of clothes until I got back to Ireland. I saw a pair of wellies but they were going to cost me about £30, too much I said so I just did without, got soaked to the bone and once I was back in the van and wasn't going to be subject to natures forces anymore, I popped into a 24hour tesco and got a pair of runners, 3 pairs of socks a pair of jeans for about £15 :P

    77 euro for wellies :o
The top of the range farming ones are fifty at most or 25-30 for decent ones.

^^^^^there the wellies i want lol, with shipping and sterling euro difference it ends up at roughly 77 like.

You're gonna get most people telling you they aren't. But it's whether they are worth it to you. For example, I have a Gucci purse which cost a couple hundred. If I posted a thread asking if it was worth what it cost, people would say no. But I like it and I felt it was worth it, so that's enough for me.

Thinks she's talking about fashion wellies, not functional bogger ones, Moonbaby :P

ah, hunters. probably worth the money, they're the top end of top end wellies :D

If you wear wellies a lot Hunters would be worth the money - you can get sock-like inserts for them too. The most I paid for wellies was €35 for a floral pair in Atlantic Homecare, they're very comfortable and soft underfoot unlike the cheap ones. Unfortunately a few weeks after I bought them I saw an ad for wellies that looked suspiciously identical to them for €14.95 in Aldi

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

they're in the "clearance" range I just noticed

Cheapo goin for the clearance stock :P:pac: (joke)

Anyway, I suppose if you're actually wearing them for non turf cutting activities and want to look well, then it's the same as spending 50 on a shirt compared to 5 in Pennys, worth it if you really like it. Not sure about spending a couple of hundred on a purse though :p

My fathers (a farmer) face if I told him I paid €77 for a pair of wellingtons would be something like this I imagine--->

These are kinda like them..stitch on hunter label. Bingo!

On a serious note: They are very nice. Like a mix between my own wellingtons/riding boots. I personally couldn't justify it though..would rather spend the money on a nice high heel. What would you be wearing them for OP? Would you get much wear out of them?

WEll, I bought mine at the weekend in Dunnes. They're black and very comfy. Wasn't sure at first about them as I thought they might cut the ankles off me. But I wore them in the rain last night and they were fine.
Why are you so set on Hunters, especially if you only need them for walking around your family's farm. Seems like a lot of expense when a good, green pair would be fine.

the original hunter wellies in office are 70 euros, hmmmm only 7 euro more, not so bad

About 5 weeks ago I got a pair of Ladies Hunters in green in TK Maxx for €34. They're great for walking around after the horses or taking the doggie for a walk.
If you're in Dublin you should check Arnotts - they stock Hunters in various colours and a lot of their stuff is 50% off at the mo.

    go for it.
if its worth it to you and it sounds like it youre going to get it anyway.
i have a prada purse i adore that cost a few hundred. but i consider it an investment
    :)
    if it makes you happy

Hunter wellies are definitely the top of the range and very comfy if you're going to be in them all day. However, €77 is a little more than normal for them, I reckon. I'd normally pay around €70 for them. I saw them in Office the other day for €70 in both green and navy, so it may be worthwhile to check their first. You can also order them from a company for €75 including postage. PM me if you want their details.

office have them in black, green, pink and gray. pretty sure the gray are 80ro and the others are 70. well worth it i gotta say. gotta pair in green!

Call me old fashioned but nothing like a girl in wellies/riding boots to get the farmer in ya goin... :D

Coming from a farmin background, I really dont see the point of hunters...there are plenty of good manufacturers out there so dont be tied down to them...because honestly, wherever you do wear your wellies they will get destroyed

They were in The Sunday Indo Magazine http://www.large-size-designer-shoes.co.uk/Shoes-Wellies/c1_37/index.html

€42.50 also at The Shoe Room on Crowe Street in Dundalk.

I was trying to think of a hardware place in Town. Only place I can think of is the one on Capel street but not sure if they have wellies in there as it has been years since I was in there. It is still there though. Might they have wellies in the mens section of dunnes since they have them in the ladies section? Not sure though, sorry.

Yeah, we searched everywhere in Dundrum. Schuh did have men's wellies, but not in a 12. If we can't find them, himself will have to wear plastic bags on his feet at the outdoor concert!

Try Millets near Jervis St. Shopping centre, there's a few shops down that way that would probably have them. Forget the name of the exact street with Millets, but just keep walking from Henry St. passed Jervis, passed Pennys, cross the road and go about 1/200 metres and it's on your right.

Hunter are the most comfortable wellies if you're going to be wearing them all day long. And they also last the longest of any of the brands I've used. In addition, the length of the legs is really good, much longer than most manufacturers, so it means you can go through much deeper water, etc. Value for money.
