Tape to mp3 ?

Folks, I have a couple of tapes that I need to transfer to MP3. Would one of those USB decks work or would I be just as well hooking up headphone on stereo to mic on laptop & using vista's sound recorder ? Need an answer ASAP Thanks in advance

I'd use the latter and then Audiograbber to make the mp3s.
