I Will Offer Any Odds That David Haye Gets Mentioned On Tonights Show {COTTO/MARG}

    Cotto vs Margarito, its the biggest fight since the last big fight. Setanta are televising live*. I am prepared to gamble any amount from €1 to €100 that whoever is presenting/hosting the show will bring up David Haye for discussion, irrespective of the fact that this BUM is nowhere near the level of Cotto or even Margarito, and has got FACK ALL to do with the Welterweight Division {apart from the fact his next opponent is coming up from there}

    So, any takers? Haye gets brought up for discussion, I guarantee it. First come first served.

    *{its a tape delay with the sh!tty "VERSUS" commentary but anyways}

    We all know Setanta are stuck in Haye's A-Hole. Anyone who's seen Steve Bunce's Boxing Hour won't take up your bet, ruling me out. Someone else will take this, if not here maybe Eastside Boxing.

    When Hatton was fighting Tszyu, Mayweather never got a look in. Somehow, Setanta will find the chance to get Hayes name in edgewise tonight. Home of Boxing? Home of Bullsh!te more like it. Lets see if they can even put on a decent "live" card tonight without defiling the occasion with mention of Haye.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    So was he mentioned?:P

    Nope. Could have made yourself a neat bundle man. Bunce was too busy welling up when Elton John I mean Julio Cesar Chavez and Margarito got their groove on in the ring.

    You really don't like Haye, do you?

    Nothing to do with Haye. I think Haye has major shortcomings as a prize-fighter, but so does Miguel Cotto, and I am a big fan of his.

    Its Hayes backers that piss me up.

    Like watching a kid fight in the street. No problem. But if he's roared on by a gang of skangers, then its hard to root for him.

    Setantas Replay Programme, the one-hour slot thing, has Paul Dempsey stressing the point that Setanta is "The Home of Boxing" {which it isn't, SKY is} and he tries to affirm this point by mentioning the fights and fighters that Setanta has televised.

    Haye gets mentioned.

    Klitschko doesn't.

    Its kind of hard to have any respect for them after that.

    you where wrong, and mentioning a fighter that is on there station only makes sense anyway, if it was an irish fighter he'd be mentioned more than wlad anyway.thats just common sense: his backer's have an opinion just like everyone else and untill there proven wrong then its all only crap talk. He,s not even a bad boxer so i dont understand your problem-if he was sloppy i'd understand or if he was not willing to fight wlad i'd also have concerns-he is and thats his chance to show his true worth, your going to be the most interested in the match anyway as your obsessed with both fighters, anyway, just to reiterate, you where wrong even though the odds where all on your side!

    Setanat is far better for boxing than sky.

    Sky has good commentary
    good domestic fights
    the odd high profile fight
    they show other fights from the US a week later

    Setanta have the bigger fights on a consistent basis and for the most part better fights as well.

    Agreed, sky upped there game a bit because setanta gave genuine competition-setanta have been great for boxing fans in ireland, Setanta is the home of top class boxing anyway, sky is good for british level boxing though.. Setanta regularly outbid sky for the fights that sky are not willing to show because of the prices..competiton is good for the fans anyway.

    Setanta showing the odd fight on a tape delay is grand, the bottom line is that Sky have a fight every Friday during the season at a reasonable hour. An awful lot of those fights attract a lot of attention. They also have consistently had the big fights on Sky and Sky Box Office. Setanta might be a new competitor, but with ITV and Sky commanding so much of the market and showing so many fights between them, there is NO WAY Setanta is "THE Home" of boxing.

    Doubtless we, the fans, are winners.

    Also, if Setanta are outbidding Sky, then what are they outbidding them for? The fights are NOT live, and they don't have the HBO commentary.

    When everybody wanted to see the haye fight months back sky refused to pay the money and setanta did on a few hours notice, they also had pavlik on the same night if i recall?

    they do show them live also, what are you on about..

    you cant compare setanta and sky on boxing.Sky caters for a british audience only interested in homebased fights these days with the odd exception.
    Setanta has a good match up pretty much every week now.
    Im not haye's biggest fan but i couldnt give a toss if setanta big him up,if it means they make enough money on him to keep showing fights such as last weeks.

    The fights are not live. They are delayed. I knew the outcome of one fight when it was half way being shown on Setanta.

    "the home of boxing" is just their sales pitch and i wouldnt read to much into it. De La Hoya isnt made out of gold, pacquiao isnt a computer game character and boxing doesnt walk into setanta and say honey im home. All this Im fine with.
    Obviously its down to opinion but If I could only pick one station to watch boxing on out of setanta,sky,utv,rte,tv3 id go with setanta.
    I do miss sky though, we had it there for 2 months at a half price and its handy to know that you have boxing on pretty much every friday. I enjoy the British level fights and of course you have munroe etc with the euro title and the occasional good fight from the US but i figured €30 for a month where you are lucky to get one good fight is a bit much.

    The fact that they may be 20 mins behind doesnt bother me either, even if it was a few hours i wouldnt care. As long as its not a day or more

    Ha ha...if it was a few hours behind then we could get up at a reasonable hour like 6 or 7 am and watch the fights in some sort of semi-comfort!!!!

    well that would be annoying but what i mean is lets say the fight is live at 1 am irish time, i wouldnt mind seeing it at 3. basically once its within a reasonable time so i dont have to stay away from boxing sites and chat with boxing fans for too long. a few mins is neither here nor there... for me anyway.

    The main fight is almost always replayed around 12, so unless you're into the undercard(such as myself) you don't really have to stay up till early in the morning.

    I live for the fights. There is nothing like saying you were "there" when it happened. If you can't be there when it happened you can at least be there "AS" it happened. Waiting till midday is grand, and I enjoy the replays, but sometimes it ruins the feel. There is something odd about watching it in broad daylight 7 hours after it ended. For some reason, struggling to stay awake and then perking up just in time for the main gives it a sense of occassion.

    Each to his own, of course, I'm just like that.

    my mate in town has all the channels, thanks to his, uh, special set up. When Calzaghe was fighting Hopkins I was falling asleep during the undercard {Ponce De Leon I think} and he would start to roar "Ohhh....Calzaghe in trouble" and I would wake up, only to be greeted by images of some hardcore fukcing on one of the 900 channels.

    Great stories for the grandkids.:eek:

    mousey i agree with you. Heroofcollege just because you dont like fighters does not mean there bad-everyone is entitled to there own opinion. At least give a good reason for why you slag them, haye is exciting and has potential, dunne like it or not only lost 1 time and anyone can be caught a lucky punch. Either way, dunne is entertaining too and if people want to pay to see him thats there perogative. I support him 1 because i find him entertaining and 2 because he,s irish.

    cotto,calzaghe,haye,margarito,klitchko,pavlik,and pacman have all featured recently on Setanta.They have signed up with top rank for irish and british rights,so i would say that for anyone without online access they are the home of boxing.
    Sky show some good fights but if its top level a lot of the time you have to shell out ppv,despite the prices you already pay.
    Setanta has been great for boxing fans and i for one hope they make a star out of haye and get even more people involved in it.
