Hangover food?

    Hi

Has anyone got good culinary recommendations for hangovers?

Tried one of my usual combinations earlier of pastry/pringles and I'm really not sure that was wise. This hangover is insufferable...

It's after 7pm on Saturday night. More alcohol?

    McDonalds, plain and simple.

All that sugar in the drink to replace, um, your blood sugars.

All that salt in the food to replace your, em, body salts and stuff.

And of course all that grease to, eh, clog your arteries.

So it's between that, and the hair of the dog.

Usually a bagel with bacon and cream cheese does the trick for me, but had that this morning and was so hungover that it didnt have much effect.

You should try pancakes (the very sweet ready made ones that you can get in Tescos or Lidl) with lashings of maple syrup. Yum. Or sausage sandwich with lots of butter and brown sauce.

Ok must go make dinner now, Im making myself hungry:D.

the best thing for me is a cool pop, wibbly wobbley wonder,or a twix ice cream

If your hangover can be cured with food then you clearly didn't drink enough. :)

If more alcohol is out of the question - hair of the dog and all that - then I usually go for a pint of rockshandy and a chicken fillet baggette and a packet of King Crisps.

    I dunno tbh.

After a night out I generally get a footlong Subway, which normally comes back out at the end of a taxi journey. But it's okay cause that's the plan, it helps you drink all yer cheap drink when ya get home which also means ya won't have a hangover. You'll still be locked in the morning.

    ;)

    Glazed in JD.

The new supply of alcohol will reactivate that which is already in yer stomachs, causing a quick drunkness!

Bacon or sausage sandwich, if one is still in a fit state to be able to make one. Orange juice and a couple of Aspirins......then sleep:)

I had a KFC today, that did the trick.

No idea, generally don't get hang overs my own self

but after a major piss session, I always eat and drink (non alcholic unfortunately, as it is past serving time). Might there be the the reason, that I don't get em

    Believe me, I did :)

This bastard behind the eyes ended up needing bananas/almond slices/kip/beer just to bring it from insufferable to tolerable...

Must point out that had I not bailed at a 12:30 pub change, more beer would've finished the job but such actions deserve punishment.

That real chips suggestion is brilliant, good anti hangover food that probably won't end up back where it came from - much too easily overlooked.

Into Mcdonalds, double quarter pounder with cheese (no pickle ) , large fries covered in tomato ketchup and a large coke.
Finished off with a strawberry sundae, then 6 cans of ice cold draught guinness and bed early.

ribena is a great stomach settler if you're feeling a bit ropey....

oj tends to turn my stomach the morning after the night before, much too acidic.

What is wrong with you people!

Spicy food! The spicier the better. It opens up your pores and lets you sweat out the crap left over in your body (read: I'm not bad mouthing the sweet sweet nectar of the gods, but I am talking about the nasty impurities which your body chokes on)

Only one caveat: if it burns going in, it'll burn coming out ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭MJOR

salty chips and curry and a good old burger... maybe a potato pie thrown in and can of coke

    Hang-over?

I keep hearing people go on about these but I'm not quite sure what it is? Could someone please describe one to me so I can see if I've ever had one or not?

    Thanks.

For the first food you get into yourself its always the real cold can of coke and packet of tangy cheese doheritos plenty of sugar, caffine and MSG (and you can buy it in your nearest centra so you don't build up the dreaded sweats walking for it)
Irivine Welsh laid out a quality set of things called the five S's that are needed to recover from a hangover in one of his books (its 4 in the morning so wrong order and no idea what book-damn it Unforgiven is a long film :(
