Hi first time on this forum but looked like the place to go for archery related questions. I have been given a compound bow from a friend who is leaving the country but the string is broke on it. I need to get it repaired but have no idea where I could get this done any ideas?. As I dont have any real information on it (make, model, etc) it looks like this http://www.centenaryarchers.gil.com.au/images/compound.gif if thats any help.

If memory serves, Dave O'Brien of http://www.archeryshop.ie should be able to sort you out.

Hey there Nop, welcome to the forums.

From the look of it, that looks like a Barnett bow. If I'm right (to be fair, I'm usually wrong) there might be a slight issue with re-stringing / cableing the bow.

Most competition compound bows use synthetic material for the strings and cables. Theses materials include cryptic names like "BCY", "FastFlite Plus", "dyena" and the likes. These materials are available at most archery suppliers and they will probably install them as well. Only potential problem I see with your bow that that I think Barnett bows use coated steel cables and strings instead of synthetic materials. These are more difficult to come by as they are usually factory made at the same time as the bow and so can usually only come from Barnett themselves. It would be possible to install synthetic materials on the bow but I've never seen it done on a Barnett - this doesn't mean it can't be done, just never seen it.

Eitherway, best bet is to contact www.archeryshop.ie, or barnett themselves. Alternativly, I get my bows re-strung in the UK by this guy http://www.st-kingsmark.fsworld.co.uk/Topstrings/TopStrings.htm, he would know what your options are I reckon.

[EDIT] - on closer look at your second post it seems the bow is a Petron bow. This model has a similar cabeling system as the Barnett.
